Developmental Kindergarten

developmental kindergartenLetter from Mrs. Schnapf:

Welcome to Developmental Kindergarten! Our developmental kindergarten class is a full-day, self-contained special education class. The goal of our class is to teach students about school and prepare them for a regular kindergarten class with special education support the following year. Students practice school routines and expectations like walking in the hall, going through the cafeteria. We also focus on increasing independence in all areas of the school.

From a Parent’s Perspective:

Mrs. Audrey Schnapf teaches an incredible Developmental Kindergarten program at Harper Elementary. She cares for her students and is attentive to their individual needs. She goes above and beyond IEP goals and doesn't give up when a student is struggling.

Mrs. Schnapf cheers and celebrates a victory that a parent has at home with their student - whether that victory is big or small. At morning drop-off, Mrs. Schnapf is there to greet your student with a big smile and an enthusiastic, “Good Morning!” DK students have the opportunity to attend specials, which include Adaptive PE and Art.

Mrs. Schnapf and her two assistants, Mrs. Cheryl Bowens and Mrs. Deveta Miller, have your student’s best interest in mind.
