Arrival/Dismissal

Arrival:
Students will be allowed to enter the school building starting at 7:45 AM unless enrolled in Morning Daycare. Any student arriving before 7:45 AM will be sent to Morning Daycare for a fee. Harper will continue to use separate entry points for bus riders and students arriving by car. Students arriving by car will continue drop-off in front of the building on Alvord Boulevard. Starting at 7:45 AM, students will report directly to their assigned classroom and supervised by their homeroom teacher or staff member. If a student needs breakfast, they should proceed to the cafeteria or use Door #2 at arrival to pick up a grab-and-go breakfast to eat in the classroom. The school day will begin at 8:10 AM.

Arrival / Student “Drop-off”:
We ask for your help with the following practices:
- Please be mindful of speed and other vehicles.
- Pull vehicle forward towards the school as much as possible to maintain an efficient traffic flow.
- Avoid parking/exiting vehicles directly in front of the building as this disrupts the flow of traffic.
- Utilize the support of our staff to assist with traffic flow and directions.

Early Pickup / Dismissal:
Please make every attempt to communicate with your child’s teacher or the school office if you anticipate an early pick-up or change in a student's personal after school dismissal plan. We ask that students are not picked-up between 2:45-3:10 unless the communication is provided ahead of time for an appointment or emergency. This helps alleviate the afternoon dismissal process & ensure accurate dismissal plans are in place.

Student Pick-up / Car Dismissal:
Students picked up by motor vehicle will be escorted to the front of the building by an adult. We will use multiple front door exits to support social distancing practices. Please be mindful of traffic flow and utilize the guidance of our staff to ensure quick & safe dismissal. Grades K-3rd will begin dismissal at 3:05 and grades 4th & 5th prior to 3:10.

Bus Dismissal: Students who ride the bus will be escorted to the bus by an adult. Each grade level will have an assigned time to escort their students to the bus to minimize the number of students in the hallway at any given time. This will allow students to go straight to the bus. If students can't go straight to their buses, students will socially distant apart from other students in the bus staging area with appropriate staff supervision. Teachers and staff will ensure appropriate procedures are in place and followed.

Daycare Dismissal: Students staying after school for Daycare will be escorted to the designated area by an adult. Students will practice social distancing in the day care staging area with appropriate staff supervision. Daycare staff will ensure that appropriate procedures are followed.
